I know this is a long post, but if you break it up into two or three sections, it's a pretty managable read.
Boy, I must like blogging late at night because here it is midnight and I'm on the computer typing away. Keeping my roommates awake; the rucus of nimble little fingers on a particularly clicky keyboard. But, it's not particularly the night time blogging keeping me awake. I've just been having such a good time in the late night. Last night, for example, I made a cape from an old wool army blanket. It's a pretty neat thing. It's semicircle in shape with another smaller semicircle cut out for the neck. I made the neckhole too big, alas. But, I believe it's beautiful all the same. And, a mighty fine cape. I'll put a hood on that thing, then I'll be ready for the woods. Got my poncho (see Lost and Found). Got my backpack (see Oh, I've been in a place ...). Got my sleeping bag (see 'H' is for 'hairy' man ...). Now I got my cape.
I also got bugs on me right now! Some multitude of litte creepers. They bite like fleas. I had fleas once in high school. My sister's cat liked to lay on my plush chair. Now, the cat had fleas and those fleas were just as pleased to live on that chair as the cat. So you can imagine me sitting in the chair and the fleas saying to themselves, 'Now here's a fine boy. I bet I'd like to live in his wool socks and bite his legs when he's at work. At the movie theater. When he's cleaning up after the show. Yep. That's what I'd like to do.' And that flea sure did it. And his family and friends, too.
I'm just returning to my home also. I was out to visit a friend whom is celebrating his birthday (22 solar revolutions). Wes, my good friend. I's out front of my house reading a little bit on the front steps. Enjoyin' the evenin' and all. Stayin' cool, you know.
Well, I'm standing there reading not paying no attention to what's going on and this car drives by [Oh yeah! I just pulled off three little bugs! Fleas?] and I hear a yell and the car screeches to a halt right in front of the neighbor's house. And the car behind it screeches to a halt, and the car behind that one screeches stopped! And I've just got this feeling. So, I run towards the stopped car in front of the neighbor's. And as I'm getting there, I see the girls in the middle car yelling to the person in the front car. And I'm thinking, oh, the people in these two cars screeched stopped to talk to each other, but I don't really believe it.
And, I get up to the car and there's this girl in the passenger seat nearly climbing out the window and shouting at me with a cell phone in one hand, and there's no one in the driver's seat but the car's running! So who is it but Carolyn Caughlin! And, of course, I'm just speechless like what's going on here? Carolyn? What the heck are you doing?! And she tells me it's Wes' b-day and he's having party and I should sure go and I said I sure would. So, I ran back into the house and grabbed some tea to give Wes as a present. And I wrapped it up in a white handkercheif that's been laying around the living room for many weeks now and I tied it with a green ribbon that my mom gave me.
So, I grabbed the gifts and my banjo and then ran out of the house and back through the backyards all the way to the uptown. And as I was walking up State when I saw my friend Jason who's brother I work with. That's Matt Presutti. And, if you haven't heard about old Matt Presutti, then you sure need to read this. And he was all chilled out, just ate some stake and mashed sweet potatoes, and I said that's a heavy meal for a hot day but it sounds delicious all the same. And I thought about my dinner (which was pretty good). Nature burger burgers with sauted onions and veggies.
And we walked for a bit and as I was walking with him I heard a couple of toots from a car horn. And I looked over and caught a brief glimpse of the driver. And I said, 'That sure looks like Wes, and he's going away from his house.' But, I kept walking to his house. Only it's not his house any more. He moved and I remember meeting him up there just about the day he was moving out. So, I figured I should wait around till the solution should come along. So I was playing my banjo and I friend flew by on his bike and we talked for a bit. And then these two guys were walking by and I knew them because they're friends with Wes. And I said, 'Hey! You guys know where Wes is?' And they said yup that he was up at his house having a party. And I said, 'So he don't live here no more?' And they said nope. So I asked if there were going to his new place and they said yes. And I asked if I could walk with them and they said yes. And those boys led me right to Wes' house, and boy was he surprised to see me! Well, I guess that's what you call a birthday surprise!
