I'm so over work on the real. My last day was Friday. Goodbye to AmeriCorps! It was a pleasure serving you, America - eliminating poverty and the like - but I must be goin' now.
I awoke early this morning before the sun had risen. A faint glow could be seen in the eastern sky and only the most brightest stars were still alight in the sky. I walked off the porch (where I'd been sleeping) and looked for the moon, but the moon had sunk too far west and was blocked by the neighbor's house (the same neighbor who keeps complaining to the city that our chicken coop is on their property). Chris, me roomie, told me of a lunar eclipse, but because the moon wasn't in view, I went back to the couch on the porch and lay down watching the dawn get on.
Later in the morning, after I'd been to the bank and the post office to arrange for my impending trip - oh, did I mention that I'll be heading out to the wilderness this weekend?? I'll be out of Athens on Sunday. A new week for a new adventure. Lawrence County, OH. I went to the library when the morning was old to look up a map on the net. I'll head for Rutland, OH then Middleport (on the old Ohio), Gallipolis (following the river towards the Mississippi). There the Ohio shoots south before turning north and west (that's the bottom point of Ohio). I have not decided whether to follow the river to Ironton then north to Pedro or take the short route across land.
I'm headed to visit my old roomie', Ryan Trimbath. He's working at the Wayne National Forest (Ironton District). He's living in a trailer in the woods with a group of other interns. We plan to meet the second week of September. Then, I'll come back to Athens. Look for updates on this blog because I'm sure I'll find myself in front of a computer while I'm out.
